Renaissance and Baroque Bronzes from the Hill Collection

The first public exhibition of this remarkable private New York collection, formed since 1996 by Mr. and Mrs. J. Tomilson Hill, with the help of Patricia Wengraf will allow visitors to encounter bronzes of supreme quality dating from c. 1470 to 1740 by Italian sculptors such as Andrea Riccio, Giambologna, Algardi and Giuseppe Piamontini, and by Northern artists such as Adriaen de Vries, Tetrode and Hubert Gerhard and French sculptors are represented by Barthélemy Prieur and Hubert Le Sueur. A lavishly illustrated scholarly catalogue edited by Patricia Wengraf, and with entries by Denise Allen, Claudia Kryza-Gersch, Patricia Wengraf, Dimitrios Zikos and technical reports by Rupert Harris accompanies the exhibition.

European Bronzes from the Quentin Collection

The Frick Collection was the only venue for the display of the Quentin Collection’s bronze, terracotta and silver statuettes by artists such as Giambologna, Antonio Susini, Willem Danilesz. van Tetrode and Barthélemy Prieur. Visitors were able to examine these exceptional works shown outside of vitrines, as seen when displayed at the collector’s home. A catalogue by Manfred Leithe-Jasper and Patricia Wengraf accompanied the exhibition.
